radical agroecology

Malcolm X famously said that “revolution is based on land”, and that “land is the basis of all independence”.

Radical Agroecology started with an observation: that environmental stewards, and more specifically, farmers and food workers in the global North tend to lack a shared politics that drive deep, land/water-based intersectional movement building.

We also started from a notion that our work as environmental stewards doesn’t have to be separate from our political organizing in other spheres. We believe, in fact, that our movements will be strengthened when imbued with Malcolm X’s assertion that “revolution is based on land”.

From organizing for tenants rights to anti-ICE work and beyond: these struggles contest the policies, norms, and infrastructures created by an empire built on stolen land. This reality puts the questions of land politics even more so at the root of how we do our work, how we conceptualize our struggles, and how we hold ourselves accountable.

We started as a monthly political education space for land stewards, and have since expanded to so many projects: from cultural work, to buyers clubs, to agroecology delegations and international solidarity work.
